7/10/2008: Casper, WY— Woman with CMT Receives MDA Personal Achievement AwardConstance Doll of Casper has been named the recipient of the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s 2008 Robert Ross Personal Achievement Award for Wyoming.
Doll, 58, was selected for the honor because of her positive spirit and community involvement.
Doll strives to share her positive perspective with everyone she encounters and to help others whenever she can. She volunteers her time at numerous community locales and events, including the Nicolaysen Art museum and a support group for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
Doll has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a neuromuscular disease that causes damage to the peripheral nerves. Symptoms include muscle weakness and wasting, loss of sensation in the extremities, curvature of the spine and stiffened joints. She uses braces to maintain her mobility.
